Our Recruitment Consultant, Elias, has joined us after spending a year working in New Zealand, now wanting to start a professional career in recruitment. Being the bright, sparky chap he is, he has started his career with a bang and now manages the Bristol and Bath area.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A lawyer. The idea first came to me when I was about 7 but after my mum hitting me with the realisation I would have to go to university for the same amount of time that I’d been on the earth, I gave it a second thought!
What was your first job?
Sticking up – As no one knows I’ll have to explain… It’s picking up skittles in a pub when they’re knocked down. Not the most glamorous!
What do you like doing when you’re not working?
Anything competitive, golf, pool, football etc. I just love winning, even if that doesn’t happen that often!
What was it like working in New Zealand?
Excellent, it was and always will be one of the best experiences of my life. It’s filled with dramatic scenery, lovely people and it just such a nice place to be. Coming back to England was so exciting too, time to start my recruitment career and begin my career journey.
What would be your number one piece of advice for someone going into an interview?
Be yourself. That’s the most important thing. Of course, doing all your preparation is crucial and you need to make sure your preparation is thorough and in-depth but when it comes to the day of the interview, there is nothing more you can do than be yourself!
What is your guilty pleasure?
Oh no, this is where my inner geek comes out. Fictional board games, I’ll admit it, I love Dungeons and Dragons!
What do you like most about recruiting?
As boring as it might sound, it’s customer satisfaction that does it for me. When you source a fantastic candidate for a position and you know the client will love them and they will love the job, it’s just so exciting. Making that perfect match and knowing that it’s down to you is a really nice feeling.
Have you really caught ‘contagious passion’?
100%. From the 1st moment I walked in the office I felt it and honestly, I think everyone that comes in does. I think it’s because everyone that works at JMMR really wants to be here and is genuinely happy. It’s such a nice environment to be in and we are all striving for the same thing.
